The Sup Metric on Infinite Products
Of all the equivalent metrics in Euclidean spaces, the sup metric is the one which can immediately be extended to infinite products of real lines. Nonetheless, it appears that no one has investigated the properties of this metric; since we could not think of any good reason for this, we decided to have a go at it and, in our opinion, the results which follow show that this metric is useful. Man...
متن کاملOn the Infinite Product of C0 - Semigroups
Recently, parabolic equations in infinite dimensions have received much attention in literature (see, for example, Pa Prato [DP] and Da Prato Zabczyk [DZ]). In particular, Cannarsa and Da Prato [CD1] showed that the Laplacian (with a certain weight) generates a semigroup on BUC(H), the space of all bounded uniformly continuous functions on a separable Hilbert space H, which is called the heat s...
متن کاملOn the convergence of certain sums of independent random elements
Our notation is standard ([1], [3], [4], [9]). Throughout this note ∆ will denote the Cantor space {−1, 1}, Σ the σ-algebra of subsets of ∆ generated by the n-cylinders of ∆ for each n ∈ N, and ν the Borel probability ⊗i=1νi on Σ, where νi : 2 {−1,1} → [0, 1] is defined by νi(∅) = 0, νi({−1}) = νi({1}) = 1/2 and νi({−1, 1}) = 1 for each i ∈ N. In what follows X will be a real Banach space and L...
متن کاملRandom Walks on Infinite Free Products and Infinite Algebraic Systems of Generating Functions
The return probabilities of certain random walks on infinite free products of finite groups are shown to obey a Local Limit Theorem of the same type as for nearestneighbor random walks on finite free products. The analysis is based on an infinitedimensional extension of a technique for studying finite algebraic systems of generating functions introduced by the author in [12] and [13].
متن کاملEquations on Semidirect Products of Commutative Semigroups
In this paper; we study equations on semidirect products of commutative semigroups. Let Comq,r denote the pseudovariety of all finite semigroups that satisfy the equations xy = yx and x r + q = xr. The pseudovariety Com1,1 is the pseudovariety of all finite semilattices. We consider the product pseudovariety Comq,r * generated by all semidirect products of the form S*T with S ∈ Comq,r and T ∈ ,...
